The verse begins, “But he whom those who discriminate praise continually day after day, as without blemish, wise, rich….” In its chapter, this image points toward meeting anger without becoming anger. The water imagery emphasizes accumulation: a mind and a life are shaped by many small conditions, not one dramatic moment.
