Men who have no riches, who live on recognised food, who have perceived void and unconditioned freedom (Nirvana), their path is difficult to understand, like that of birds in the air.

Reflection
The verse begins, “Men who have no riches, who live on recognised food, who have perceived void and unconditioned….” In its chapter, this image points toward freedom from compulsive grasping. The path image makes wisdom active: direction matters, and the next step is more useful than an idealized destination. Because this is a historic English translation, test the teaching in experience rather than treating its wording as a demand for belief.
